Discover what makes it unique
Following the handover of the Canal Zone from the U.S. to the Government of Panama, the latter decided to transform the disused military installations into a large cultural center where, where universities are proliferate, research institutes, laboratories, retail, and offices, along with housing for researchers and students.
The fact that a country was divided to unite the world has been a physical, historical, and cultural milestone for this Central American site. Therefore, we have highlighted this situation in our competition proposal, where the void that separates the two housing volumes gives meaning and reason to the intense activity taking place within it.
