Arco Bicentenario Ciudad de México Concurso

Arco Bicentenario Ciudad de México Concurso
Proposal for an Arch-Monument in Mexico City celebrating centenaries by blending commemoration with urban solutions on Reforma in 2010.

Discover what makes it unique

For 2010, in anticipation of the two centenaries of the beginning of independence, was proposed an Arch-Monument that would materialize its presence by celebrating the forest, rather than impacting it, and that could simultaneously function as a clear and organizing reference for the Reforma axis. We imagine it as a strategy, more than an object.

Our initial approach was to generate a proposal that understood its commemorative purpose but that did not lose sight of its location in a very particular place. We fused these two factors to achieve a single temporal and spatial intention: to be emblematic while simultaneously solving everyday problems.
